Another Knock At The Door

Another Knock At The Door

Imagine this for a moment: it’s Saturday afternoon. The week has been long, and you’ve finally carved out some time for yourself. You’re in your favorite cozy spot in the living room—maybe it’s the couch that perfectly hugs you or that recliner that’s seen better days but feels just right. You’ve got the TV on, ready to catch up on your favorite show, and for a moment, everything feels perfect. And then it happens. Alexa’s voice cuts through your peaceful bubble: “Someone is at the front door.” Annoyed, you groan, thinking, “Who could it be now?” Maybe it’s a neighbor, or worse—a salesperson. You grudgingly get up, annoyed at the interruption. You’re already rehearsing your response: “No, I’m not interested. I don’t care what you’re selling!” Well, it's my guest Nathan! Nathan & his wife Amber (Amber's past guest) walked away from in their words Jehovah's Witness, cult. Join me as I try on Nathan's Shoes.

And then it happens.

Alexa’s voice cuts through your peaceful bubble: “Someone is at the front door.”

💠

Annoyed, you groan, thinking, “Who could it be now?” Maybe it’s a neighbor, or worse—a salesperson. You grudgingly get up, annoyed at the interruption. You’re already rehearsing your response in your head: “No, I’m not interested. I don’t care what you’re selling!”

💠

As you peek out the window, you realize it’s not a salesperson. It’s worse.

💠

Standing there are two people with smiles too wide for comfort, clutching those unmistakable pamphlets. You mutter to yourself, “Jehovah’s Witnesses. Great.” Your mind flashes to Sam from work—you know, the one who’s always leaving those flyers around the breakroom. You can’t help but roll your eyes.

💠

Now, you’re faced with a dilemma. Do you answer the door? Or do you pretend you’re not home and wait them out?

💠

My guest today, Nathan, has a unique perspective on this situation. He’s a second-generation Jehovah’s Witness who made the bold decision to leave the Kingdom Hall behind—a choice that came with enormous consequences. Why did he leave? What was it like to walk away from a faith that had been part of his family for generations?

Nathan’s story is one of courage, heartbreak, and rediscovery. There’s a reason he’s chosen not to share his last name, and as you’ll hear, his journey is as eye-opening as it is powerful.

💠

So, are you ready to find out what it’s really like to step away from a faith so deeply rooted in your identity? To hear the story of someone who chose to walk a different path despite the odds?

💠

Hit play and join me as I step into the shoes of Nathan, a former Jehovah’s Witness.
